Luncheon on the Grass
Edouard Manet(1832–1883), different from Monet, is of the Realism period that influences the Impressionism directly. The painting itself presents a nude woman, in the foreground, with men of the Industrial age. The woman is superimposed, and to note, this is the breakthrough of Photography, Socialism, Communism and Women’s strength in society, influencing the Realist work. He creates the precursor to Impressionism itself, and will mark the genesis of Modernism as well.
Other works to see: Olympia, The Railway, Bar in den Folies-Bergère
